Osimhen disclosed that several people, including a former agent, questioned his decision to leave SSC Napoli for Turkey, warning him it was not the right step in his career.
“When I left Napoli, do you know how many people told me, ‘Do not go to Turkey. Are you crazy?’” he said. “A former agent even told me, ‘No, no, no. Don’t go there. It’s not a smart move.’”
Despite the criticism, the Super Eagles forward remained firm, emphasizing that his decision was driven by emotion and connection rather than external pressure.
“But I think with my heart. I wanted to play for Galatasaray,” Osimhen explained.
He went on to highlight the unique passion surrounding the Turkish giants, describing the club as one of the most emotionally intense environments in world football.
“I wanted to go to a top three club in the world in terms of passion. Those are the kind of people who really understand me.”
A key factor in his decision was his conversation with head coach Okan Buruk, whose personal approach left a lasting impression.
“When I spoke to Okan Buruk on the phone before I signed, he told me, ‘I’m here to tell you that I personally, as a person and as a coach and as a father, I want you in my club.’”
Osimhen also recalled the unforgettable reception he received upon arrival in Istanbul, describing it as a defining moment that reaffirmed his choice.
“When the flight landed, there were 3,000 Gala fans waiting for me in the middle of the night. That feeling is worth more than money.”
The striker’s comments underline his deep connection with the club and its supporters, reinforcing why his move to Galatasaray has quickly become more than just a football transfer—it’s a story of passion, belief, and belonging.
