Victor Ochei Promises to Rebuild Nigerian Tennis After Sweeping to Federation Presidency

Newly elected Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) president Victor Ochei has vowed to unite the sport’s stakeholders and restore Nigerian tennis to its glory days after securing an emphatic victory in the federation’s elections.

Ochei won the presidency with 11 out of 12 votes, while Yusuf Datti was elected unopposed as Vice President in what was described as one of the most peaceful elections in the federation’s recent history.

Speaking after his victory, Ochei said his administration’s priority will be to build a “robust and inclusive ecosystem” that supports players, coaches, and officials from grassroots to elite levels.

He pledged to attract private sector sponsorship and revive national tournaments to create a clear pathway for young talents. “Tennis has enormous potential in Nigeria,” Ochei said. “Our mission is to provide opportunities and infrastructure that will produce world-class athletes.”

The new NTF boss called for collaboration among state associations and corporate partners to ensure the sport’s sustainable growth. “We must move beyond politics and focus on development,” he added.
