Victor Boniface Making Progress In Rehabilitation After Surgery, But…

Werder Bremen of Germany striker, Victor Boniface is making steady progress during his ongoing rehabilitation after surgery, but he is unlikely to play again before this season runs its full course.

Sports247 gathered that this is in stark contrast with initial expectations of an early return for the former Real Sapphire of Lagos striker, who is on loan at Bremen from fellow-Bundesliga side, Bayer Leverkusen.

The latest setback for Boniface was confirmed by Bremen’s sporting director, Peter Niemeyer, who confessed that the injury-prone Nigerian attacker will not feature again this season.

This comes after the 25-year-old Boniface suffered a knee injury during training in December and had surgery earlier this year, but he is still undergoing rehabilitation in Leverkusen.

Niemeyer spoke about a longer period of rehab for Boniface, who joined Bremen on a season-long loan from Leverkusen, but has not scored a single goal for the team and only contributed two assists in 11 games.

“He’s making progress in his rehab, which is encouraging, but it’s still impossible to predict when he’ll be fully fit.

“Given the rehabilitation process, we don’t expect Victor to play for Werder again this season,” Niemeyer told DeichStube.
