Werder Bremen of Germany striker, Victor Boniface has spoken out in strong defence of himself, with a verdict that not being able to score for the Super Eagles does not make him a bad player.
Sports247 reports that the former Real Sapphire FC of Lagos striker, who is on loan at Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen of Germany, has failed to hit target in 13 matches for the Super Eagles, but he insists no one should write him off.

While also apparently brushing aside scepticism about his fitness levels, as he often looks heavy on the ball and lost a summer transfer move to AC Milan after failing a medical, Boniface put it all down to a matter of luck.
Boniface, who earlier played for Bodo/Glimt of Norway and Union Saint-Gilloise of Belgium, declared:
“I will just say that I’m not lucky in terms of goals scoring for the national team. I know there were a couple of games in which I did good, but scoring of goals is the most important thing about football.
“Presently, all over the world, people who don’t watch the game will go to live score. They will see you as Ronaldo if you score. People who don’t watch the game will only follow the scorers.
“I’m sorry for people who think that way, but I still believe it’s only because I’m not lucky with the national team in terms of scoring goals.”
Dramatically, his lack of goals has followed him to Werder Bremen, where he has just one assist but no goal in seven games for the club he joined this past summer, but Boniface insists he’s good enough for the Super Eagles.
“My biggest dream as a footballer was to have a chance of representing my country, which I have achieved. I’m happy that I pushed myself to that point, and I’m grateful for it.
“If it doesn’t work out, it does not mean I’m a bad player. It’s not been good for me at the national team level, but God knows why. I’m really happy that I’m representing my country anyway,” Boniface affirmed.
Sports247 gathered that the embattled striker, who was born in Akure, Ondo State and is set to clock 25 years old on December 23rd, will hope to score his first goal for Bremen this weekend when they host VfL Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga.
