Uzoho Shakes Off Elche, Deportivo Disappointments

New arrival at Anathorsis Famagusta of Cyprus, Francis Odinaka Uzoho says he has put behind him the disappointments he faced at Elche and Depotivo la Coruna of Spain, as he is concentrating on his latest base.

Following his debut with the team that also has former Super Eagles midfielder, Nosa Igiebor and Uzoho said he was equally delighted to settle down fast in the team.

Sports247.ng reports further that Uzoho was also happy that he was able to keep a clean sheet on his debut, as he pulled of three remarkable saves to help his side to a 1-0 victory over Apollon on Saturday.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper subsequently stated that he was happy with the January transfer deadline day loan from Deportivo to Famagusta, where he will spend rest of the season in order to gain more game time.

In contrast with his situation at Elche, where he got just seven games in the Spanish Segunda B before the switch, Uzoho was on for the entire duration against Apollon, who fell to a lone goal hit in the 39th minute.

The UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist is a product of Qatar-based Aspire Football Academy and rose through the ranks at Deportivo before making his La Liga debut against Eibar on October 5, 2017.

Uzoho renewed his contract with The Blues & Whites in August, which tied him to Estadio Riazor side until 2021, but he failed to hold down a regular starting shirt on loan at Elche.

Subsequently, Elche and Deportivo agreed that it would be better to cut short the deal, which paved way for Uzogho to join Igiebor at Famagusta, and he is now relishing the switch.

After getting rave revives, following an impressive show in his debut, Uzoho took to social media to reveal his thoughts and gave thanks to Jesus for making his resurgence possible.

Uzoho stated: “It’s just a matter of when but i will definitely get there! Happy my debut came with a win and clean sheet. IN CHRIST ALONE.”
