Uzoho: I Now Want To Concentrate On Football

Anorthosis Famagusta of Cyprus goalkeeper, Francis Odinaka Uzoho has admitted he went through a tough spell during the period of scrutiny over the fake health certificate he was issued by the club, but now wants to concentrate only on playing for the team.

The lad on loan from Deportivo La Coruna of Spain acknowledged that it was a huge setback for him missing three key matches with the club he joined last month, but he is now determined to make up on lost time.

Consequently, sports247.ng can report that the 20-year-old shot-stopper, who spent the first part of the season struggling for regular first team action at La Coruna’s second-tier rivals, Elche, wants to help Anorthosis recover from a nine-point deduction.

The Famagusta-based side dropped into relegation zone in the Cypriot top-flight, on account of the punishment they got for lining Uzoho out with falsified papers, such that the keeper is eager to help them recover.

Although Uzoho missed Saturday’s 3-2 win at Ermis, he admits how happy he is that his appeal against a match suspension was accepted by Cyprus Football Association.

Uzoho was handed the ban and a fine of €1,000 after the CFA upheld a protest by Apollon Limassol, which claimed he played against them with a falsified medical certificate in his debut for Famagusta.

The Super Eagles’ first choice stop-stopper declared: “It’s been a tough period, but I only want to concentrate on football now.”
