Usman: Buckley’s Confidence Fuels Friday’s Octagon Return

Former UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman says Joaquín Buckley’s swagger only heightens the stakes as he makes his long-awaited comeback this Saturday.

Usman, sidelined by injury for nearly two years, praised Buckley’s six‑fight win streak and the self‑assured style that has made him a fan favourite.

“Buckley’s done a fantastic job with what he’s been presented so far. It’s no easy task to win one fight, but to string together six in a row—that’s going to give you ultra confidence,” Usman said.

“No one wants to just go out there and fight a fish. You don’t get that excitement. So he’s going to come in ultra‑confident, ultra‑aggressive, and I’m just going to be me and let my experience take over.”

Usman insists his ring‑rusted return will be smoothed by the veteran savvy that once carried him to a record‑breaking title reign.

“He’s confident, and that’s important. I like that. But I believe my experience will be the difference maker. That’s why I’m still here—it’s where I want to shine.”

Their showdown headlines Saturday’s UFC Fight Night card, promising a classic battle of youthful flair against seasoned skill.
