Uprise Flag Football League: Williams Joseph Euphoria Over Game Development, Enjoins More Athletes Participation

Williams Joseph, one of the standout quarter backs that has seen his game and understanding of American football develop tremendously through the Uprise Flag Football League has lauded the blooming project as he enjoins other athletes to give the sport a trial.

The Chiefs quarterback admitted that he was a novice before getting the information about the sport but he decided to try and it has been a love affair story at first sight ever since.

“It has been a great journey for the boys so far. Having fun in the game and we are embracing the dynamics of American football,” Williams conceded in a discussion of his take on the Uprise Flag Football League project with Sports247.ng.

‘In Nigeria, a lot of people are interested in soccer and that’s why I decided to do something different by choosing Flag Football because there are not enough people playing in Nigeria here, so it’s a good place to be successful as one navigates one’s way through life,” he added.

“I wasn’t in the sport initially, I was newly introduced to the game too. I just decided to try and I came out as one of the standout quarterbacks so my coach asked that I play as a QB and I have been doing so.’

“We haven’t really heard of people involved in the sport in Nigeria so it makes it a very good initiative. It’s open for anyone interested to come and play but one has to use the mind and be very smart,” he advised.

“This is a very tactical game. You have to be on top of when it comes to calculating your moves and runs, it’s simply like a game of chess.”

On his parents support – “My parents have given me that maximum support when I started two years back. I will try my best and make them proud,” Williams vowed.

Pioneered and led by Osi Umenyiora who is a two times Super Bowl champion, the former New York Giants defensive end is partnered by David Njoku who is currently plying his trade with Cleveland Browns, Emmanuel Ogbah ( Naija Lions owner who plays for Miami Dolphins, Romeo Okwara of Detroit Lions.

The tigers team owner and Maurice Jones Drew, the only American team owner who played for Jacksonville Jaguars owns the Yellow Trumpets.

With aim to connecting African players in the NFL to thier roots back home, the core focus is to showcase young, promising talents in Nigeria and Africa at large while also drawing the public attention to African athletes currently playing professional football in America.
