Igoche explained that internal divisions among key stakeholders have slowed the growth of basketball in Nigeria and must be addressed urgently.
“The first thing we must do is restore unity within the basketball family,” Igoche said.
According to him, disagreements among administrators and stakeholders have created instability that has hindered the development of the sport at both domestic and international levels.
“When the leadership of a sport is divided, progress becomes difficult,” he added.
The basketball administrator stressed that bringing all stakeholders together will be critical to rebuilding confidence and moving Nigerian basketball forward.
“My first task will be to bring everyone to the table so we can work together again,” he noted.
Igoche also addressed concerns about funding, insisting that financial support will not be a problem if his administration takes charge.
“Funding will not be an issue because we already have clear plans and targets for generating revenue,” he explained.
He revealed that his team has developed strategies aimed at attracting sponsorships, partnerships and investment to strengthen the federation’s finances.
“We have a structured plan to generate funds and support the development of basketball in Nigeria,” he said.
Igoche believes that with proper leadership, Nigerian basketball can return to a stable path and build on the successes already achieved by the national teams.
“Once unity is restored, we can focus on developing the game and supporting our players,” he concluded.
The leadership race for the NBBF presidency has generated significant interest among stakeholders as the federation looks to resolve ongoing administrative challenges and chart a new direction for basketball in Nigeria.
