Former Nigeria international Eric Ejiofor has challenged the home-based players selected for Nigeria’s Unity Cup squad to seize the opportunity and change how domestic league players are viewed.
Reacting to the inclusion of several Nigeria Premier Football League stars in the Super Eagles squad, Ejiofor described the invitation as a crucial second chance for local talents to prove themselves.

“This is a second chance for these players,” Ejiofor said.
According to the former international, the selected players must approach the tournament with maximum determination and professionalism.
“They have to perform at the highest level possible,” he implied.
Ejiofor stressed that strong displays during the Unity Cup could help improve the reputation of home-based players within Nigerian football.
“This is their chance to change perceptions,” he noted.
The former defender also urged the players to play without fear and embrace the responsibility that comes with representing the national team.
“They must show confidence and quality,” he added.
Nigeria’s Unity Cup squad is expected to serve as an important evaluation platform for coach Eric Chelle as he continues rebuilding the Super Eagles.
“The competition for places is becoming stronger,” many football observers believe.
Ejiofor remains hopeful that the domestic players can prove they deserve more opportunities at international level.
“The talent is already there,” he stressed.
For the former Super Eagles star, the message is clear.
Use the opportunity wisely.
Represent the domestic league proudly.
And prove that home-based players can compete internationally.
Because national team chances can transform careers when players rise to the moment.
