Super Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle has confessed that he darely wants to win the 2025 Unity Cup final against The Raggae Boyz of Jamaica on Saturday, but acknowledged that his side will face a great team loaded with great players.
Sports247 reports that Nigeria and Jamaica will lock horns from 7pm on Saturday at Brentford’s GTech Community Stadium in West London for the top prize at this year’s four-nation invitational Unity Cup, which the Super Eagles won in 2004 when it was launched.

The competition was rested for 21 years and, now that it is back and bigger, Chelle is eager to make history by clinching the revamped title and, at the same time, win a trophy after only his fourth match in charge of the three-time African champions.
Aside from winning the Unity Cup this Saturday, Chelle added that a major task on his mind during the upcoming game is to spot another clinical scorer who can he can rely on to help Nigeria win the remaining four matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Franco-Malian tactician retorted, “I need to put into my team some guy who can add something … because we need to win. It’s important for me. Maybe I will find a guy who can score in the last minute against Rwanda, or against South Africa, or against Lesotho (or Benin Republic).”
While pointing out that he is already looking beyond Saturday’s match towards the World Cup qualifiers, Chelle hinted that he will carry the home-based players along, as he reckoned that they could also provide the right depth that the Eagles would need at crucial moments of their forthcoming fixtures.
Chelle added, “My job is to work and try to do the best for this team and for Nigeria. For the local players and the other players, we will work well together.”
Chelle, however, concluded by admitting that the task at hand for now is working out how to defeat Jamaica on Saturday, which he believes is a target that will be achieved with the array of determined and fully focused players currently in the Eagles’ camp.
“I am happy to be here with my players, and we are focused on the next game. We’ve just played one game, and we will try to prepare for the second game.
“We are in the final, and we want to win. But, the reality is that Jamaica has a great team, with great staff and great players. It will be a great game again,” Chelle predicted.
