‘Underaged Football Competitions Are For Players’ Developments And Not A Must Win’- Vincent Davis Voices Out To National Team Coaches And Football Administrators In Nigeria

B.E Arena Football Academy Coach, Vincent Davis has urged the National team coaches in Nigeria to look into the Grassroot, as well as encouraging the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take the underaged Football competition as an avenue for Players’ development and not to win the competition at all cost.

The Experienced manager stated this after his side’s 3-1 defeat in Match Day One (1) of the Ongoing “Game on” tournament in Festac.

Speaking with Sports 247 after his team’s loss, Vincent Davis urged the National team Coaches to continue to look into the Grassroot. He also voices out to the NFF and football administrators in Nigeria to use the Underaged competitions as a means for scouting for talents and developing young players into the National Team, and not a “win at all cost” scenario.

“The National team handlers will have to look down to the grassroots and also learn to take the risk”.

“The Junior teams is a developmental process and not a “win at all cost” situation. But if they win the game, it’s a plus for them. But what is important is that in a tournament, how many players were you able to discover to get them ready for the main team. I think that should be the major motive of our youth teams”, he emphasized.

Vincent Davis’ side after losing on Thursday, will now battle for the third-place finish in the competition when they play against CollJenny FA on Friday after the latter were thrashed 4-1 by B-Bless FA.
