Attention had since shifted to the Oluyole Warriors’ next assignment, an away clash against Kun Khalifat FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. However, fresh developments surrounding Kun Khalifat FC have cast serious doubt over whether the fixture will eventually take place.
Reports circulating within NPFL circles indicate that Kun Khalifat FC have withdrawn from the league following disciplinary action by the League Management Company (LMC).
The club was charged with breaching the NPFL Framework and Rules after failing to honour their Matchday 24 fixture against El-Kanemi Warriors on Monday, February 2, 2026.
In line with league regulations, Kun Khalifat FC were handed a ₦10 million fine, while three points and three goals were awarded to El-Kanemi Warriors.
The sanction has sparked controversy, with Kun Khalifat maintaining that they had valid reasons for their absence and insisting that the league authorities failed to give due consideration to their explanations.
As a result, uncertainty now surrounds the proposed NPFL encounter between Kun Khalifat FC and Shooting Stars. With no official statement yet confirming the club’s continued participation or withdrawal from the league, stakeholders and fans are left in limbo.
For Shooting Stars, the situation complicates an already disrupted schedule, as the club awaits clarity from the NPFL organizers on whether the fixture will proceed, be postponed, or be decided administratively.
All eyes are now on the League Management Company to provide an official update that will determine the immediate future of Kun Khalifat FC and the fate of the anticipated clash with the Oluyole Warriors.
