Uduka Ugbade Hails Golden Eaglet’s Superb Performance In The Just Concluded WAFU U17 Tournament

Former Assistant Coach of the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, Nduka Ugbade has hailed the superb performance of the Nigerian U17 team, led by Coach Fatai Amao at the just concluded WAFU U17 tournament in Togo, despite losing to Cote d’Ivoire in the final played yesterday (Monday).

Nduka Ugbade stated this in a chat with Sports247, where he commended the individual talents of Fatai Amao’s boys, despite losing the final, stating that it was a great performance from them even in the final after going 3 goals down and scoring 2 goals on their own, to make the result look respectable after it seemed to end in an embarrassing fashion. He also admitted the boys have achieved something by qualifying the country for the U17 AFCON in Morocco and that Nigeria is blessed with great young talents, even though talents is not enough in modern football.

“From 3-0 to 3-2 is a wonderful performance. It is not a bad outing actually. It was very possible for us to see that Nigeria is not lacking in talents but in modern football, talent is no longer enough”.

“But having said this, the team has tried a lot, being able to achieve something at this level, qualifying for Morroco and at the end of the day getting to the finals of the WAFU Zone B, I think we have achieved a lot,” he admitted.
