Cruz Azul Femenil of Mexico striker, Uchenna Kanu is relishing two new records she set with her club last weekend, as the Super Falcons’ star netted the team’s fastest goal ever on 38 seconds and the fastest brace in just 15 minutes.

Sports247 reports that Kanu, who is back at her best in Mexico after a short spell at Racing Louisville of USA, accentuated her milestone evening by netting a hat-trick in Cruz Azul’s 4-0 victory over Toluca.
It was another step forward for Kanu and her teammates in the Liga MX Women Championship, with the Nigerian lass having scored five goals in two matches, as she had also recorded a brace in the previous game last Tuesday.
The 28-year-old striker, who is now the Mexican league’s fourth top scorer with 10 goals, will hope to keep her form going into the 2026 Women Africa Cup Of Nations in June, as she missed the last edition due to surgery on a knee injury.
Her current form at Cruz Azul should be a huge boost for Kanu, who first represented Nigeria at both the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in 2014.
Five years later, on May 24th, 2019, Kanu got her first senior invitation, as she joined the Super Falcons for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, following which she also played at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
She later starred at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and 2024 Olympic Games, all of which the 28-year-old striker from Abia State acknowledged are amazing transformations in her rags to riches story.
Kanu disclosed in her profile, “I used to sell oranges and water on the streets of Aba. My brother and I would hawk sodas like Coca-Cola, Fanta, and Pepsi in the market. We’d cross paths, share a laugh, and then go our separate ways.”
