Ubani Confirms May Day For Lagos Media Marathon

Former chairman of Lagos State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (Lagos SWAN), Tony Ubani has confirmed that the much-awaited Media Marathon among journalists in the Centre of Excellence will now hold on May 1st.

Sports247.ng reports that, Ubani, who is also former media officer of Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), spoke in his position as chairman of the marathon’s organising committee.

He affirmed that all logistic reasons that occasioned the marathon’s shift from December 2018 have been sorted by the organising committee.

Ubani added that the new date, which is 2019 Labour Day, was arrived at after extensive consultations with relevant stakeholders.

He affirmed that the maiden Lagos Media Marathon will have categories of 5km and 10km races, open to all journalists and others in the media.

Aside from journalists and students, who would participate in the race for free, interested members of the public will register with a token.

He further revealed that more attractions and catchy innovations are being worked upon to add extra spark to the forthcoming race.

Ubani said: “We have a new date for our race now, the First Lagos Media Marathon will be taking place on May 1st and we are working very hard to make it a memorable one.

“For us, we don’t’ believe in just rushing to do any event, we want to get it right from this first race that is why we have chosen this new date which is May 1st 2019.”
