U20 WORLD CUP: Former Flying Eagles Star Ikouwem Udoh Advocates ‘Attacking Pattern’ For Current Squad

A member of Nigeria’s squad to the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland, Ikouwem Udoh Utin has charged the Flying Eagles’ current coach, Aliyu Zubairu to marshal an ‘attacking pattern’ for his team, in order to win this year’s Youth Mundial in Chile.

Sports247 reports that, although Ikouwem is a defender and currently plays as a right-full-back for AS Marsa of Tunisia, the former home-based Eagles star acknowledged that attack is a crucial aspect of football, since that’s where goals normally come from.

The versatile lad, who shot to prominence in 2018 when he emerged as best young player in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), added that an attack-minded approach is what Zubairu’s side needs in order to overcome Norway on Monday in their first group match at Chile 2025.

“They need to work more on attack, because football is mostly about attacking your opponents’ goal area. So, they need to work on their attack.

“They also have to develop how other areas of the team can link up with the strikers. That’s what we refer to as an attacking pattern, and that’s what will help them score goals,” said Ikouwem, who is now 25 years old.

Sports247 reports that the Flying Eagles will step out against Norway on Monday evening at Estadio Fiscal de Talca for their first group match, then face Saudi Arabia at the same venue on Friday, before ending first round play versus Colombia next week Monday.
