U-14 Nigerian Tennis Player “Ogunsakin” Earns Wild Card Ahead Junior Grand Slam

Africa’s number one ranked U-14 player, Ṣeun Ogunsakin, has qualified for a wild card to play at the Junior Grand Slam in Wimbledon, later this year.

The young starlet is also set to embark on a European Tour before the prestigious grass tournament begins.

Ogunsakin, this year, rose to the peak of the African U-14 Junior rankings, from the number four position he held for a while. The Tunisia-based star is now the number one junior player in the whole of Africa and is setting his sights on breaking into the world tour rankings after this feat.

At a recent two-week competition in Togo, which also included the African Junior Championships that had the continent’s best players, Ogunsakin won both without dropping a set.

This move helped him rise to the top of the junior rankings, therefore, qualifying to play in the Junior Wimbledon as a wild card entrant.

This is the first time a Nigerian junior player will qualify for the main event of a junior grand slam and the youngster has vowed to give it his all and come back home with the trophy.
Ogunsakin will soon depart from his Tunisia training camp for a couple of tournaments in Europe.
