Tyavkase Relieves Enyimba Memories With Lobi Stars

Lobi Stars of Makurdi midfielder, David Tyavkase is reliving memories of the glory days he had during his days with Enyimba of Aba, and believes that aura will rub off on his present team in the CAF Champions League.

Tyavkase is with the Middle Belt side in South Africa, for Saturday’s fifth group match of the CCL away to Mamelodi Sundowns, and he believes Lobi can replicate the winning ways he enjoyed while with Enyimba.

Sports247.ng reports that Tyavkase is nostalgic about what he enjoyed with The Peoples’ Elephant, but he posited that The Ortom Boys can be equally as successful in the ongoing continental elite clubs’ competition.

The 34-year-old midfielder has tasted success in this competition before with Enyimba in 2003 and 2004, such that he is adding immense levels of experience to Lobi Stars for this year’s competition.

Back to the present, Tyavkase said he is determined to keep the Benue State-owned club in the race by getting three points against Mamelodi Sundowns at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday.

Lobi have already tasted victory over Sundowns in this season’s group stage campaign, when they beat the 2016 champions 2-1 on match day one at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu in January.

However, heading into the game this weekend, Lobi Stars are bottom of the group on four points from four matches, one of which they lost at home against Wydad Csablanca of Morocco, and Tyavkase admits they have a Herculean task on their feet.

Tyavkase noted: “Lobi Stars have only four points now and we need all the three points in our next game against Mamelodi Sundowns to be in contention for the quarter finals.
“There is nothing impossible in football and we are seriously working towards getting a very good result away in Pretoria.”
