Two-time Epe League winner Ajuku Wisdom is setting his sights on a third title as the striker prepares to lead Dragons into what will be his final season in the competition.
Wisdom has already lifted the league title with Volcano and Eagles and now has an opportunity to complete an impressive three-team championship run if Dragons emerge victorious in the new season.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Sports247, the striker made clear that his priority heading into the new season is to make an impact in his preferred position and help Dragons challenge for the trophy.
Having previously operated both as a striker and a winger , Wisdom says he is most comfortable leading the attack and intends to make goals a major part of his contribution this season.
His previous success, however, means he expects opponents to pay closer attention to him.
Wisdom acknowledged that he has become a marked player but remains confident in his ability to handle the pressure that comes with his reputation and previous achievements.
For the forward, winning another championship will require more than individual performances.
He identified dedication, collective focus, tactical organisation and support from the team’s management as important ingredients if Dragons are to emerge champions.
Leadership could also become an important part of his final championship season.
Wisdom explained that he regularly tries to lift teammates when morale drops during matches, stressing the importance of maintaining the right mindset and communicating with players on the pitch.
His familiarity with several members of the Dragons squad could help that process, with the striker confident that chemistry within the team can develop naturally.
But the biggest target remains unmistakable.
After winning two league titles, Wisdom wants to leave the competition with a third.
Doing so with Dragons in his final season would allow the striker to complete his league journey on another high while strengthening the legacy he hopes to leave behind.
