Trujillo Floors Kayode in Sixth-Round TKO at Wichita Heavyweight Clash

American heavyweight prospect Gustavo “Cuban Assassin” Trujillo (8‑0, 7 KOs) continued his undefeated streak after delivering a commanding sixth-round stoppage of Nigerian veteran Lateef “Power” Kayode (22‑6, 17 KOs) at the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita on Saturday night.

Despite Kayode’s reputation for punching power, he struggled to find his rhythm throughout the bout. Trujillo dominated the encounters, landing heavy, unanswered strikes that visibly tested Kayode’s resilience. The referee intervened in Round 6 to stop the fight, with Kayode’s corner signalling their decision to pull their fighter from the contest.

Trujillo’s performance marked yet another emphatic win, showcasing his aggressive fighting style and ring control. Meanwhile, Kayode—at 42 and making a return after several setbacks—was unable to match Trujillo’s youth and precision.

This result reinforces Trujillo’s ascension in the heavyweight division and extends his knockout tally with seven KOs. Though still early in his career, the Cuban-born fighter is quickly drawing attention as a legitimate contender.

Kayode’s defeat adds to his recent struggles, following losses to Antonio Tarver and Luis Ortiz that were later reclassified.
