Super Eagles’ captain, William Troost-Ekong has showered praises on the duo of Victor Osimhen and John Mikel Obi, who he rated high among players that ever wore Nigeria’s national team jersey, Sports247 reports.
The 31-year-old Ekong, who now stars for Al-Khalood of Saudi Arabia, opined that Osimhen is the best Eagles’ player of his generation, then posited that Mikel was largely underrated during his days with the Nigerian squad.

The in-form centre back, who has previously played for Tottenham Hotspur and Watford of England, AA Gent of Belgium, PAOK Saloniki of Greece as well as Salernitana and Udinese of Italy among others, reckoned further that Osimhen should be ranked on the same scale with Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
He pointed out, “People always talk about Jay Jay Okocha. But, in my generation, I think Victor Osimhen has the potential to be the best player we’ve seen in the Nigerian shirt.
“I also believe John Obi Mikel is very underrated. I played along with him at the Olympics, where he played as our number 10.
“I believe it’s when he plays as a number 10 that you can really see his talent. But he still did great things with Chelsea in a different role.”
Sports247 reports that Troost-Ekong’s verdict comes less than 72 hours to a long-awaited official unveiling of Osimhen by Galatasaray of Turkey at the start of his full contract with the Istanbul-based side.
