Al-Kholood of Saudi Arabia defender, William Troost-Ekong has promised that he will remain fully committed to aiding football development in Nigeria, despite retiring from the national team, Sports247 reports.
Troost-Ekong formally ended his tenure as Super Eagles’ captain when he officially retired from international duty on Thursday, but the 32-year-old star interjected that he is not quitting football altogether.

While reflecting on how his national career began, the mulatto centre back with 83 caps paid profound tribute to late Eagles’ captain and coach, Stephen Keshi for giving him his debut and thanked everyone who supported him in the squad.
Ekong’s retirement message read on part: “To the Nigerian fans, the heartbeat of Nigerian football, your support has carried me through every high and every challenge.
“This isn’t a final goodbye, my work within Nigerian communities continues, just as my love and passion for the team will never fade.
“Wearing the Super Eagles shirt, has been more than playing football. It has been a duty, a privilege and an honour.”
