Township Comprehensive Secondary School Students Take Consolation In Football

Football has become a major consolation for students at Township Comprehensive Secondary School in Amaifeke area of Orlu, Imo State, as facilities for their academic activities are dilapidated.

A visit to the school by Sports247 revealed that the premises are almost in ruin, with hardly any presence of facilities that are basic needs in a learning environment.

Walls on the buildings have lost their coat of paint, ceilings shattered in multiple places, few chairs available for the students, laboratories as bare as a dessert, and former dormitories now looking like a dumpsite

However, in the midst of the ruin, many of the students were seen playing football at various spots across the large expanse of land to keep themselves busy and happy as their teachers also appear reluctant to do their duties.

“This school has become a shadow of its old self,” said one of the former students who is now a community leader in the area known as Amaifeke Ancient Kingdom.

“During our time, there was boarding school, the laboratories were all well-stocked and learning was fun. Sadly, TCSSA has become a skeleton without flesh.”

Sports247 spoke with some of the students found playing football, and they all prayed that ongoing efforts by TCSSA Old Boys Association will help in reviving the school’s glory.
