Tochukwu Nnadi Targets AFCON Success, After Getting Super Eagles’ Debut Versus Egypt

Zulte Waregem of Belgium midfielder, Tochukwu Nnadi is basking in the euphoria of his senior debut for Nigeria and he’s already thinking of winning the Africa Cup of Nations in January, Sports247 reports.

Although Nnadi only played the last six minutes of Nigeria’a international friendly against Egypt on Tuesday and he could not save the team from losing 2-1 in Cairo, the 22-year-old lad sees it as a promising beginning for him.

The product of Campos FC of Owerri, who previously played for Madenat Alamal Football Academy of United Arab Emirates and Botev Plovdiv of Bulgaria, believes he’s already on the path of a rosy international future.

Nnadi, who joined Waregem in January 2024, recounted his exploits with the Flying Eagles at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup and reasoned that he has a strong foundation for future exploits in Nigeria’s green-and-white jersey.

He retorted, “I played in the under-20 team and now I’m in the Super Eagles. I wasn’t expecting it to be so soon, but now I’m here, and I’m happy.

“I come from a country with over 200 million people. Playing for them, I know it’s heavy; but I’m here to show my quality, fight for the team and I hope we win the AFCON.”
