World female hurdles record holder, Tobi Amusan of Nigeria has confessed that she feels the pressure of trying to meet up to all expectations, but quickly added that she douses it by simply trying to be her normal self at all times.
Sports247 reports that the 100mH stallion further disclosed that she does not go into a major competition with the target of breaking one record or the other, because she knows that fast finishes on the track cannot be achieved all the time.

This comes after the 28-year-old Amusan was in the news again at the weekend, when she clocked a season’s best time of 12.24s and beat the previous meet record of 12.51s by Brianna McNeal at the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco.
Amusan admitted afterwards that she was delighted with her feat, especially after memories of a sordid end to 2024 and poor show at the Olympic Games in Paris, France, but quickly conceded that she will not be able to always run quick times in every race.
The graduate of University of Texas in El-Pas, USA confessed, “It’s not easy getting into a race knowing that you are the best in the field, time wise. It sounds so cliche sometimes, but it’s not always going to be easy.
“It’s not about running a fast time now, but getting a win most importantly at every track meeting. That’s what I look forward to doing; but I know it’s not every race that will go according to plan. So, I really don’t put pressure on myself with that.”
Amusan has now turned her attention towards redeeming her image in Nigeria’s colours, as she gets set to join her country’s contingent for the forthcoming 2025 World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
