Time Has Come For Me To Play For Flamingo, Odebode Tells Nigerians

Omolara Odebode is not well known in Nigerian Women Premier League but her performance in Papa Soccer Academy of Epe, Lagos is a clear indication that her game is matured to play in the next Flamingo team known as U-17 Nigeria women national team.

The attacking midfielder who started her career at Bathus Queens from Ogun state joined Papa Soccer Academy from Epe, Lagos, few years ago.

Odebode played at the just concluded Nationwide League (NWFL) in Edo State and scored two goals in five matches for Papa Soccer Academy.

Her brilliant performances in various league matches gave her opportunity to follow Maureen Madu Football Academy to Morocco for training tour recently.

Odebode has carve a niche for herself since she joined Epe based female club.

Our correspondent who watched some of her matches recently showed that Odebode is a future player for the national team and no wonder her current form in the club earned her to be among the female footballers that represented Lagos in Youth Games Festival in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The ligh skinned attacker told sports 247.ng recently that her time has come to serve her motherland.

“Since I joined Papa Soccer Academy, i have been doing well. i have won many laurels for the club and represented the state at the national competitions and this is time for me to feature in the next Flamingo national team.

“Presently i have reached my zenith of my football career and it would be sad if i don’t play for my country.I contribute to the success of the team.I assist in goal scoring and i even score for my club so i am using this medium to annouce to Nigerians and those who are in charge of Nigerian football that Odebode is ready to play for her country in the next U-17 women FIFA World Cup,”she said.

Odebode who is currently 15 years old managed by Ayisat Yusuf Aromire Foundation revealed that she would prefer to start her professional career with Delta Queens and play for Chelsea or Manchester City female club in the nearest future,

“I like to play for Delta Queens.They play the style of football i used to play.If i see offer from the club,i will inform my coach before i play for them.Currently Delta Queens are one of the best clubs in Nigeria and playing for them is a good start for my professional career.

“If i want to start my professional career in Europel, i would like to play for Chelsea FC or Manchester City.I have watched their female teams and i am moved to join any one of the clubs someday.For now, i am waiting for any offer from NWFL clubs but i would have loved to start my career with Delta Queens because it is my dream club,”she

Commenting on Odebode progress, head coach of Papa Soccer Academy, Adeboye Soneye Paul said Odebode is one of the outstanding players in the team noted that her chance to play for national team is bright.

“Odebode is my player and she is a very disciplined player who has brighter future ahead of her.What i can say is that if she continues the way she is playing, Delta Queens may invite her because she is a player that can threaten defence line anytime anyday.She is very aggressive and dangerous on ball and i can only wish and pray that her dream should come to reality,”he concluded.
