President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated renowned grassroots sports promoter and administrator, Hon. Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, popularly known as “Zulu,” on the occasion of his 60th birthday, praising his remarkable contributions to youth empowerment and sports development in Nigeria.
In a message marking the milestone on March 11, 2026, the President commended Adeyinka’s commitment to grassroots sports and his efforts in creating opportunities for young Nigerians to discover and develop their talents.
“Through Adeyinka’s efforts, many young people have found fulfilment in life and a pathway to success,” the President said.
President Tinubu highlighted Adeyinka’s role in promoting youth development through sports as well as his contributions to maintaining peace and security in Lagos State through the activities of Team Lagos.
Adeyinka, fondly called Zulu, serves as the Director-General of Team Lagos, an organisation established about 27 years ago, which has worked closely with the Lagos State Government to promote peace, community engagement, and youth empowerment through sports initiatives.
Over the years, the grassroots sports advocate has played several key roles in sports administration.
He previously served as Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Football Matters from 2013 to 2015, before later becoming Senior Special Assistant on Sports, where he coordinated sports development programmes and grassroots sporting activities across the state.
Currently, Adeyinka serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, where he continues to champion initiatives aimed at discovering young talents and expanding opportunities for sports development across the country.
Beyond his public service role, he is also the Chairman of Smart City Football Club, reflecting his continued passion for nurturing emerging football talents.
President Tinubu wished the celebrant good health, many more years of impactful service, and continued contributions to the development of sports and youth empowerment in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
