The ‘next stars’ of Nigerian football would be discovered in the Fusion Football Championship, believes 36 Lions FC president Hagji Gafar.
In a chat with Sports247, Gafar praised the idea of the 20-team regional tournament and also said it would help keep the players engaged.
“It is a wonderful league. This is where the next Okocha is going to be discovered. The next Kanu and Rashidi Yekini of blessed memory would be discovered here,” Gafar said.
“It is a good league and I love what I see here. I have seen two games today. I am impressed with the good football and youthful exuberance.
He continued: “I commend the people involved in this wonderful idea and getting boys busy week in week out. Me coming here is to look for the best talents in Lagos or the top talent that I can work with within a year or two and see if we can nurture him to the next level and then ultimately to the apex of his career.”
