“This Is the Night Nigeria Has Been Waiting For!” — SSA Adeboye Charges Super Eagles Ahead Of DR Congo Showdown For World Cup Playoff Ticket

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeboyinka Adeyinka Adeboye, has issued a rallying call to Nigerians and the Super Eagles, declaring tonight’s clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo as “one of the most defining matches in our recent football history.”

Speaking from Morocco, where he is currently with the national team, Adeboye said the players are mentally ready, physically prepared, and fully aware of what is at stake — a ticket to the six-team Intercontinental Playoff that will ultimately determine qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

“This is the night Nigeria has been waiting for. We are 90 minutes away from taking the next massive step toward the World Cup. All we need now is unity, total support, and the belief that we are stronger together,” Adeboye declared.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles face DR Congo in what promises to be a fiery encounter at the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay El Hassan — a winner-takes-all battle for Africa’s single playoff slot.

Nigeria advanced after a thrilling 4–1 extra-time demolition of Gabon, while DR Congo edged Cameroon with a dramatic late header from captain Chancel Mbemba.

Adeboye acknowledged the threat posed by the Congolese side, especially their aggressive midfield and dangerous frontline, but insisted the Super Eagles have the firepower, tactical discipline, and winning mentality to prevail.

“Our boys have shown hunger, grit, and the true Nigerian spirit. Victor Osimhen is on fire, our midfield is sharp, and the coaching crew has prepared meticulously. We respect DR Congo, but we fear no one,” he said.

The SSA also reminded Nigerians that the Super Eagles’ achievements under Coach Éric Chelle speak for themselves — five matches, four wins, one draw, 14 goals scored, four conceded, and an unbeaten record in the playoffs.

He urged fans at home and abroad to remain calm, united, and prayerful as kickoff approaches:

“This is a national moment. Let us speak with one voice, support the team with one heart, and push them to victory. Nigeria is going to the World Cup — and tonight is the step we must take.”

Nigeria and Panama are among the highest-ranked sides in the Intercontinental Playoff race, meaning the winner tonight will need only one victory in Mexico to secure a World Cup ticket.

“This team has everything it takes,” Adeboye concluded. “Tonight, we march with confidence, with purpose, and with the full pride of a nation behind us. Victory is possible. Victory is within reach. And victory is Nigeria’s to claim.”
