Adeboye, who arrived in Morocco on Sunday, was present at the Stade de Fès on Monday night as Nigeria delivered a commanding display to secure a place in the quarter-finals of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations

“This is the Nigeria we believe in,” Adeboye said shortly after the match. “A team that plays with purpose, confidence and togetherness. What we saw tonight is the true Nigerian spirit — fearless, focused and determined to succeed.”

Nigeria asserted control from the opening moments, creating chances and sustaining pressure before finally breaking the deadlock through Ademola Lookman.

The Eagles’ authority grew as Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams added to the scoreline, sealing a comprehensive win that underlined Nigeria’s ambition in the tournament.

Adeboye noted that the performance went beyond goals and results, stressing its significance for young Nigerians watching at home and across the diaspora.

“When our players perform like this, they inspire millions of youths who see sports as a pathway to discipline, opportunity and national pride,” he said.

“This is why grassroots development remains critical, today’s stars were once discovered at the base.”

He also commended the technical crew and players for maintaining focus and composure, describing the victory as a statement of intent ahead of the knockout stages.

“As we move forward, this level of commitment must continue,” Adeboye added.

“The journey is far from over, but this performance shows we are ready for the challenge ahead.”

Nigeria will now face the winner of the Round of 16 clash between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Algeria in a quarter-final encounter scheduled for Saturday at the Grand Stade de Marrakech.

Adeboye urged Nigerians everywhere to remain united in their support, emphasizing that collective belief can drive the team further.

“When Nigeria stands together, our teams feel it. The Eagles are flying, and with the support of the nation, they can go all the way.”
