In a landmark moment for grassroots football development in Nigeria, Top Notch Goalkeepers Academy has announced the international departure of its standout shot-stopper, John Eric, who has officially left for Denmark to further his goalkeeping career.
John Eric, who rose to prominence during the inaugural Top Notch Keepers Kombat in 2024, described the move as “just the beginning” of what he hopes will be a long and impactful journey in European football.

“This is just the beginning. I’m grateful for this opportunity and determined to make everyone back home proud,” Eric said shortly before his departure. “From Oyo to Europe—it still feels unreal, but I know I’m ready.”
His transfer was facilitated by Tasafrica, which contacted Top Notch CEO Oladipupo Oluwatobibola earlier this year. According to Oluwatobibola, the academy did not hesitate to approve the move, recognizing Eric’s readiness and elite mindset.
“We always believed in him,” said the CEO. “Eric is a trailblazer, and we are proud that he is our first graduate heading to Europe. He’s opened the door for others.”
Eric’s journey marks a significant milestone not only for Top Notch Goalkeepers Academy but also for local talent development in Oyo State. His story is now a beacon of hope for aspiring goalkeepers across the country.
Meanwhile, anticipation is building for Keepers Kombat 2.0, scheduled for October 2025 in Oyo State—where scouts and fans alike will search for the next breakout star to follow in Eric’s footsteps.
