The story of the maltreated football academy player

A student of Diamond Football Academy, John Kelechi Onuoha has accused the academy of maltreatment by the president of the academy, Ikechukwu Martins Apugo.

Kelechi who granted an interview with sports247 narrated the incidence was a unfortunate one.

” On our training on Saturday 2nd of may 2020,we where playing a tournament against ourselves in our stadium at ahieke in umuahia, so the coach was incharge of the match and he said 3 minutes remaining to end the match and my team was lossing 1-0, I made a comment in the field saying” 3mins remaining o, if our team loss we go”

“That was the only comment I made and Hon Martins Apugo the owner of the academy called me and I came to answer him, he asked me what I said, and i answered him. He gave me a blow on my mouth and started beating me,blood was rushing out of my lips and he continue beating me even with the blood on my hole body,Kicking me and said I should roll on the field, used a big bambo stick on my laps and hands.” He added

The academy player explained that he believes his human rights have been violated and seeks justice.

“I know my right as a young footballer and that is why I am writing for it to be on air”.

Efforts to get through to the President, Honourable Ikechukwu Martins Apugo to seek the other side of the story has proved abortive .

Any football related activities have been suspended by the government and NFF since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.
