The Stage Is Set, The National Principals Cup Is Back And Lagos Is Ready

All preparations have been put in place as the country will be witnessing the return of the National Principals Cup today 26th February, 2021 in the City of Lagos with the activities being opened by the first game between the “Up I.C” boys Igbobi College of Lagos and Government College Kaduna at the Agege Stadium.

Dr Rafiu Ladipo, President-General of Nigerian Football and other Sports Supporters Club, President of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, and one of the brains behind National Principal Cup rebranded spoke to Sports247 and explained that the stage is set and everything has been put in place for the big day today. “Let me confirm to you that tomorrow (today) is the day we’ve been looking forward to as the students of Government College Kaduna are here to have a feel of the pitch and we’re expecting the Igbobi College boys,” he said.

“The stadium is ready, the MOC is ready and we’re going to make sure that the activities will be hitch free. So I implore every Nigerian to be part of it, to watch it because it’s the official kickoff between the two teams and we expect one of the two teams to win the best team,” he added.

The principal cup is a secondary school competition that has been in Nigeria for a long time but has suffered huge crises due to certain managerial issue but finally returns on a National level even as Lagos State has always had it’s principals cup hold steadily.

“I’m one of the happiest Nigerians to be able to see the principals cup being brought back. Many successful ex Nigerian players who have done the country proud passed through this event such as Chief Segun Odegbami, Henry Nwosu, Okoronwata, Tajudeen Disu, Dosu Joseph and a host of others. They gave Nigeria a good name,” Dr Rauf said.

“I want to use this opportunity to thank the current minister for youths and sports, Mr Sunday Dare for bringing back the principals cup. I believe with this, we’re trying to create a new Nigeria as far as football and other sports is concerned because other events such as track and field, badminton, basketball also will hold too even as boxing and certain other sports will join later,” he added.

He explained this is the era of catching the players who will do the country proud again young.
