The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeyinka Adeboye (popularly known as Zulu Authority), has joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the heroic performance of Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, after their stunning 75–68 comeback victory over Senegal in the semifinals of the 2025 FIBA Africa Women’s Championship in Abidjan.

The pulsating encounter saw Nigeria rally from behind to outscore Senegal 23–10 in a dramatic fourth quarter, booking a spot in Sunday’s final and extending their incredible AfroBasket winning streak to 28 consecutive games.

Speaking from Abuja shortly after the final whistle, Hon. Adeboye described the win as “another glowing reminder of the indomitable Nigerian spirit” and a symbol of what unity, courage, and focus can achieve.

“This is what we call the True Nigerian Spirit — resilience in the face of adversity, courage under pressure, and the never-give-up mentality that defines us as a people,” Adeboye said.

“D’Tigress have once again lifted the soul of the nation. Their performance tonight is a masterclass in belief, teamwork, and national pride. We are extremely proud of them.”

Adeboye, whose office has championed youth and grassroots development across multiple sports disciplines, said the victory not only brings joy to Nigeria but also inspires a new generation of young athletes watching from home.

“Our girls have shown that with hard work and unity, the sky is not the limit — it is the beginning,” he added. “Their journey to the final is a testimony to the possibilities that exist when we invest in talent and believe in our own.”

The SSA further assured that the entire country is behind the team as they aim to clinch their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title in Sunday’s final.

“They have our full support. We are praying, cheering, and standing behind them. Let’s finish the job on Sunday and make history again,” he said.

Hon. Adeboye also used the opportunity to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support of Nigerian sports, especially women’s sports, which has seen unprecedented attention and investment under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This victory is also a testament to what can happen when leadership shows real support. Under President Tinubu, Nigerian sports is on the rise — and the results are showing,” he concluded.

D’Tigress will face either Mali or South Sudan in the final on Sunday, where victory would cement Nigeria’s place as the undisputed queens of African basketball.
