The Missing Piece In United’s Attack

Nyima Nwagua finally made his debut for Rivers United! We had to wait a little bit to see him in action after signing for the “Pride of Rivers”, but it was definitely worth the wait. What a debut it was on Sunday at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi! He made sure to torment Lobi Star’s backline for 90 plus minutes before he was replaced by Barnabas Daniel.

It didn’t take long for Nyima to stamp his authority on the game. Just four minutes into his debut, the 28-year-old sent a warning signal to his opponent and onlookers as he was fouled just outside the box after he tried to go past his maker.

Nyima Nwagua was instrumental to Ishaq Kayode’s brilliant volley that gave Rivers United the lead, starting the move by receiving a pass from Bamba Bakary, Nyima showed off his impressive hold-up skills and then found Chijoke Akuneto in the box whose flick with the head found an unmarked Ishaq whose volley went past Lobi Stars goalkeeper Emeka Onyia .

While initially, this may look like an easy goal, it was Nyima’s strength, holdup play and movement that made it look easy in the first place not to forget the intelligence of Chijoke Akuneto and brilliance of danger man Ishaq Kayode.

Those three qualities were far too much for Lobi Stars to handle. Time after time, Nyima won his duels against his marker(s), and it often felt like they could do nothing to stop him.

We have a golden fish in Nyima Nwagua and the missing piece in our attack line.
