The Inspector-General of Police gave strong assurances on deep reforms, sanctioning of officers, and protection of the youth.
The strict enforcement and implementation of the recent ban of FSARS and similar squads alongside the need to allow the youth to go about their legitimate activities formed the core of our meeting this morning.
Among other things, it was agreed that a Youth-Police Townhall meeting series across the county should commence soon under the watch of the MYSD. These meetings will serve as a check on the relationship between the two before things deteriorate. This is an early warning system.
Government is unequivocal that the police brutalities against our youth must stop. I am happy about the commitment of the IG of Police to rid the force of bad eggs but more, to stop the painting our youth as ‘Yahoo boys’. President Buhari is also fully committed to our Youth.
