THE LOVE FOR ATHLETICS BY YOUTH IS LONG GONE

The man Babatunde Samson Ogunde was once the game master of Saint Dominic’s primary school, Yaba Lagos state.
One of the few senior starters in the country and the only senior starter with Lagos state sports commission.
For those that grew up in Lagos State in the ’80s and ’90s when schools used to carry out inter-house sports activities and inter-schools events, the man Ogunde is a well known athletic official.
When asked about athletic in the grassroots, the athletic official said the government need to do more in the area of grassroots development, by making sporting equipment and facilities available which is the only way the youth can be encouraged to take to sporting activities in the grassroots
He further said the education authority have to make sure schools include physical education in their curriculum both at the primary and secondary school level.
Babatunde called for more organised competitions in the grassroots so that more talents can be discovered.
Babatunde Samson Ogunde officiated at this various AFN tournament, he was at NNPC/Mobil track and field event 2010 in Calabar, Eko games 2012, AYAC 2013 in Warri and was there 2003 when Nigeria hosted the COJA games.
The man Babatunde Samson Ogunde hail from Ogun state, a teacher by profession before he retired from active teaching in 2012.
