The DFA Election Is Just A Mind Game – Tonobok Okowa

Chairman of the Delta state Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa has revealed that he never intended to run for the Chairmanship position of the Delta state Football Association.

The Sports administrator and politician said the whole drama was just a game plan after he noticed the selfish interest of those who declare for the position.

” I never intended to run for the DFA Chairmanship position, I am too busy for that”
.
“I noticed that those who declared their interest are out for their personal gain rather than the progress or development of the state FA”.

” In order to save the state FA, I have to play some political mind game to bring out the clear picture for all to see”.

“Look, any genuine sports person who put the interest of the state football first will not retrogress the sports activities in the state rather fine tune solution for the way forward”.

The stylish Okowa said at the moment no FA can survive in Nigeria without having a good relationship with the government or commission.
“There are some fight one cannot win”.

“As a public servant arrogance and pride is not needed, rather humility and high sense of reasonableness are keys open doors are progress”.

” How can an FA who one brag about of independence survive without sponsors when it does not have good relationship with the government of the day”.

“They need the government to survive because almost all the sports facilities are government owed and if they are asked to pay for rental how can they survive”.

The Chairman of the Delta State sports commission, also revealed that he has since equipped the DFA office with modern facilities that will make the office one of the best FA office in Nigeria.

He advised that sports as a business should be taken seriously in Nigeria to encourage private investors to invest big time to attract good sponsors.
