THE AKO SHOW: Daniel Emeka, The Unsung Underdog Hero Makes AKO Knockout Grand Finale

Life sometimes doesn’t come rosy on some individuals, it comes fast, tough, hard, and brutal to the point of giving up, and to the lucky others, it’s given on a platter of gold. Daniel Emeka has seen everything there is to see about life but he is yet to taste the beauty and riches of life but he’s on his way to getting it all ahead of the final showpiece with Nidid Alonu after passing the test of time.

Born and brought up with not so much comfort with siblings and a terribly sick brother to cater for, he can be the difference-maker for his family as he gears up for the final mountain climb to claim the mega prize money of the event.

In an emotional lift of gloom before the bout, Emeka gave us a glimpse of his family, he emotional confessed, “we are five in my family when my parents stayed together before I lost my mum, my dad impregnated another woman and he told her to abort it, she said no that she has to move in with us, destroy the family. At the end, she wasn’t able to come in but she dropped the baby at our doorstep so my mum took care of the baby.”

“My mum was mad at my dad but at the end of the day because of her Christian faith and her good heart, she let it all go and took care of the baby till age 5 when she died. There was no one to take care of us, my dad took every one of us to the village. Epilepsy had already started as a shock. Till now, am the one catering for his expenses, I really love him. When everybody because of the illness, they don’t want to go close to him, falling down and embarrassing people on the street and all, I decided to stay with him and show him that he has a brother, people who really love him, I do everything for him.”

“When I got to the semi-finals, a lot was running through my mind looking back at where I started from, where I am going to, all the pressure in my head pushing me to do more and be the best at the top.”

His coach also praised his endearing drive and never give up attitude, he said, “I have never seen a person so committed as Emeka, he fights his fears, worries, and doubts in his head, nothing looks difficult for him, he always wants to take on the best, there is nothing that can really stop this guy with his motivation and determination.”
