TFF President Wallace Karia Hails Historic Feat as Four Tanzanian Clubs Qualify for CAF Group Stage

Dar es Salaam – President of the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF), Wallace Karia, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Simba SC, Young Africans (Yanga), Azam FC, and Singida Black Stars for their remarkable achievement in advancing to the group stages of this season’s CAF competitions.

Karia, who has been at the helm of Tanzanian football for seven years, described the milestone as a proud moment not just for the clubs involved, but for the entire nation.

“I have every reason to congratulate myself and the entire football family of Tanzania,” Karia said. “Seeing four of our clubs reach the CAF group stage is no small achievement.

In the past, this was something associated with countries like Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, or Nigeria — but today, Tanzania stands alone in Africa, sending four clubs to the group phase.”

He reaffirmed the Federation’s commitment to supporting the clubs as they prepare for their group-stage campaigns, noting that TFF will continue to provide technical and logistical assistance to ensure they perform even better and increase Tanzania’s CAF ranking points, currently at 75.

Karia also encouraged all four teams to approach the next phase with determination and ambition. “Simba and Yanga have experience at this level, but I want Azam FC and Singida Black Stars to show the same hunger and build a culture of consistent success in continental football,” he added.

Since assuming office in 2018, Karia has overseen a period of impressive growth in Tanzanian football. The NBC Premier League now ranks fourth in Africa, while the national team, Taifa Stars, has qualified for multiple AFCON tournaments.

Women’s football has equally flourished under his leadership, with Tanzania’s female teams achieving major successes — from winning the CECAFA Championship to qualifying for the WAFCON and reaching the U-17 World Cup quarter-finals in India.

Karia concluded by expressing optimism that this new milestone marks the beginning of a golden era for Tanzanian football, both domestically and internationally.
