In a move that showcases both opportunity and ambition, young forward Emmanuel Chinedu Elekwa has officially inked his first senior contract with German 3. Liga side Alemannia Aachen.
The 20-year-old, who spent last season with Viktoria Berlin in the Regionalliga Nordost, impressed the coaching staff during a two-week trial at Aachen and has now secured a deal that could be a springboard for his professional career.

Elekwa’s road to this moment is marked by persistence and steady development. Born on June 11, 2005, he passed through several youth setups including RB Leipzig, SV Babelsberg 03, Hertha Zehlendorf, and 1. FC Magdeburg. It was at Magdeburg’s youth and reserve levels where he sharpened his skills in the men’s game.
Last season at Viktoria Berlin, Elekwa featured in 31 league matches, also making an appearance in the DFB-Pokal. Despite not lighting up the scoresheet heavily (three league goals), his work rate, physical presence (standing at about 1.93 m), and attacking potential drew attention. Even though his former club suffered relegation, Elekwa’s performances were enough to win him a chance at a higher level.
Alemannia Aachen’s sporting director, Rachid Azzouzi, praised the new signing: “He brings many qualities — speed, a good finishing touch, and strong physique. There is still room to grow, but he meets our positional profile well. We know it takes patience, but we believe he will contribute.” Elekwa himself expressed excitement: “I feel there’s a clear plan for me here… I want to repay the club’s trust on the pitch.”
Though Elekwa hasn’t yet tallied his first goal for Aachen, he has already made appearances, coming off the bench in the match against Hoffenheim II at the Tivoli.
For Elekwa, this marks a crucial turning point: transitioning from youth and reserve football into the professional ranks in Germany. If he continues to adapt well, grow in confidence and seize his opportunities, he could become one of the breakout attackers in 3. Liga this season — and maybe more.
