Super Eagles striker Terem Moffi has spoken of his relief and excitement after completing a loan move to FC Porto from French Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
The 26-year-old was officially unveiled by the Portuguese giants earlier this week, ending a turbulent spell in France that saw him seek an exit following a breakdown in relations with his former club.
Porto moved swiftly to secure his services, offering the Nigerian forward a fresh start at the Estádio do Dragão.
Speaking in an interview published on FC Porto’s official website, Moffi described the move as an emotional moment in his career.
“I feel very proud to be here and to wear the colours of this club. It’s really emotional for me, and I appreciate the president, the coach and the fans,” he said.
“Porto are a club that always wants to win trophies and compete at the highest level, both in the league and in the Champions League. It feels good to be here.”
Moffi also expressed his delight at reuniting with head coach Francesco Farioli, whom he previously worked with during his time at OGC Nice.
“He’s someone who focuses a lot on details – body shape, touches, positioning. He always wants to make you a better player,” Moffi added. “It’s no surprise to see what he’s doing now. He’s doing something big here at Porto.”
Above all, the former Lorient striker stressed that personal happiness is key to rediscovering his best form.
“I think I just want to be happy playing football. When I’m happy, nothing else matters, and that’s when I’m at my best,” he said.
“I love scoring goals, working hard for the team and interacting with the fans. I know there are big expectations, but with God’s help, the goals will come.”
Moffi could make his debut for the two-time UEFA Champions League winners when Porto face Casa Pia in their next Liga Portugal fixture.
