It was mixed emotions when the Team list of Male and Female Handball Teams was announced by Head Coach Opuene Yetongha.
Speaking to News Men Mr. Opuene said that picking the team wasn’t an easy thing to do because of the quality and caliber of players at his disposal but he also said that the players selected were chosen based on merit.
“Picking 17 players from each category isn’t an easy thing to do because of the caliber of players at my disposal but I must say that every player selected here were based on merit.
When quizzed further on how confident he is on his teams, Mr. Opuene said that he expects nothing less than qualification to the Prudent Energy Handball League for both teams.
“I am confident of nothing less than qualification to the Prudent Energy Handball League with these players at our disposal”.
Speaking to some players on their inclusion to the team, Mr. Batowei Newton said that he is excited to be included in the team because he believes that it is a testament to how much effort he has put into improving himself in the past months, so it’s a thing of joy to be part of the team.
“I am excited to be included in the team because I believe that it is a testament to how much effort I have put into improving myself in the past months, so it’s a thing of joy to be part of the team”.
Speaking to a female player known as Peter Blessing who said that she was elated to be included because it’s a reward for all the training and Handwork she has put in so far and it’s a thing of joy for her to be selected among the 17 players that will represent Bayelsa State.
“I am elated to be included in this team because it’s a reward for all the training and hard work I have put in so far and to be chosen among the 17 players to be selected for Team Bayelsa is a thing of joy for me.
