Tennis: NTF Targets Talent Discovery and Growth in 2026 – Hember

Board member of the Nigeria Tennis Federation, Victor Hember, has revealed that the federation has set a clear agenda to take tennis in the country to the next level, with strong emphasis on development and competitiveness.

Speaking on the federation’s plans, Hember said the focus for the new year is to expand opportunities for players through more regular tournaments, which he believes will help uncover fresh talents while also improving the level of existing players across the country.

According to him, consistent competitions are vital for growth, as they expose players to match situations, build confidence and provide pathways for young athletes to progress from grassroots to elite level.

Hember also stressed the importance of collaboration, calling on stakeholders, sponsors and tennis enthusiasts to support the federation’s vision. He noted that meaningful development can only be achieved if everyone works together with a shared commitment to the sport.

The NTF board member expressed optimism that with the right structure, increased competitions and stakeholder backing, Nigerian tennis can regain prominence on the continental stage and produce players capable of competing internationally.

He concluded by reaffirming the federation’s resolve to prioritize long-term development over short-term gains, insisting that sustained investment in grassroots and competitive exposure will define the future of tennis in Nigeria.
