Teams Gear Up For National Women’s Rugby Championship Trials In Asaba

Not less than twelve women’s clubs have confirmed their participation at the forthcoming national team selection trials in Asaba

The national women’s team selection trials which are meant to be held from July 1-2 In Asaba, Delta state will be used to select players for the women’s national team that will later participate in a series of competitions lined up by Nigeria Rugby Football Federation, NRFF.

With the date fast approaching, teams are gearing up for the championship as more and more teams are confirming their participation in the championship.

Ahead of the tournament, four teams from South East have confirmed their participation which is: Eastern Springbok RFC Anambra; Abia State Rugby FC, Abia; Coal City Angeles RFC Enugu and Heartland Pyramid Rugby team, Imo State.

From Lagos, Nigeria Police Rugby Club, Ikeja; Gosar Rugby Club, Navy Barracks, Apapa, and Eco II Rugby Club, Navy Barracks, Apapa have stepped up their preparations in readiness for the championship while from North Central – Benue Buffalo Rugby Club Makurdi, Benue State have signified their readiness while in South-South, Team Edo Rugby Club are good to go.

From the North-West are: Barewar Rugby Club, Kano, Zaria Rugby Club, and Kaduna while from North–East we have Yankari Rugby Club

More teams are expected to signal interest as the tournament date draws near.
