Team Nigeria kicked off Day 3 of the 4th African Youth Games in Luanda on a bright and encouraging note, turning in strong performances that signaled growing confidence and rising momentum across the board.
In the Aquatic Centre, young swimming sensation Aidan Dumuje-Abili delivered one of Nigeria’s standout moments of the day. Competing in the boys’ 100m freestyle, Aidan powered through his heat with an impressive time of 55.90 seconds, finishing second and securing a well-deserved place in Friday evening’s final.
His composed swim, marked by excellent pacing and a strong finish, has positioned him as a legitimate contender for a medal, and one of the athletes to watch as Nigeria pushes for podium places in Luanda.
Nigeria also extended its winning form in beach volleyball, where the national youth team clinched its second straight victory. In a commanding display, Team Nigeria overpowered Namibia 2–0, showcasing superior coordination, service accuracy, and attacking rhythm. The victory keeps Nigeria firmly in contention for the knockout stages, strengthening hopes of progressing deep into the tournament.
With morale soaring and athletes settling into their competitive rhythm, Team Nigeria is expected to build on these strong results as Day 3 continues. Coaches say the team is showing the right blend of focus and confidence, while officials observe a growing sense of unity within the camp.
