Olalekan, who is often seen training his athletes rigorously in Abeokuta, has set high targets for himself and his team.

“The journey has been nice. We thank God for everything. We thank God for the federation giving us the platform to keep working and doing well,” Olalekan stated, acknowledging the support and opportunities provided by the federation.

Known for his inspirational coaching style, Olalekan has been a guiding force for many young athletes. “I am only trying to create a change step at a time. So if the changes I’m creating in my own little way are inspiring a lot of people, it means we’re doing something great,” he said.

This sentiment reflects his commitment to fostering talent and driving positive change in the world of athletics.

When asked about his expectations for the All-African Games, Olalekan predicted a strong performance from the Nigerian team. “Well, with what I’ve seen, I know it’s going to be a landslide victory. The team is endless. Very strong, very great, very fast athletes and they have a listening board that provides everything they need,” he said.

He further added, “I don’t see any competition. Maybe if there are other countries, because I know if there is a team or an events that Nigeria came with three athletes, then they should just plan to comfort themselves because it’s Nigeria. 1st, 2nd, 3rd.”

As the Athletics competition approach, the spotlight is on Coach Olalekan and his team of athletes, whose dedication, resilience, and spirit of competition promise to make Nigeria proud on the international stage.
