Gbagada FC head coach Akinyelu Olajide has urged his players to put their 5–0 defeat to Gaiters FC in the TCC Cup behind them and turn their attention to their next fixture, with another important challenge coming up in the next few days.
Sports247 reports that the defeat was a disappointing setback for Gbagada FC, who struggled defensively and conceded five goals from individual errors. However, Olajide believes the team must learn from the experience and respond positively rather than dwell on the result.
Reflecting on the match, the coach acknowledged the magnitude of the scoreline but maintained that it did not fully represent the overall picture of the game.
“Yeah, the scoreline looks huge. It is actually huge, but again, that’s not the true picture of the game. We conceded five goals from five individual defensive errors,” Olajide said.
He further emphasised the importance of consistency among his players, describing the performance as a difficult day for the entire team.
“As a team, we need consistency from players. Having five defensive errors leading to goals is just a day off for all of us,” he added.
Despite the heavy defeat, the Gbagada FC manager was keen to shift the team’s focus towards the next assignment, stressing the need for a quick response as they prepare for another big game.
“We need to quickly shake this off. We’ve got another big game in front of us in the next couple of days, and I think we just have to go back and get ready for the next game,” he concluded.
Gbagada FC will now look to regroup, address their defensive lapses and approach their next fixture with renewed determination as they seek to bounce back from the TCC Cup setback.
