Taribo Gets Victorious Birthday Gift From Super Eagles

Former Super Eagles defender, Pastor Taribo West on Tuesday received a very pleasant birthday gift from the Nigerian national team’s present generation, as they beat Egypt 1-0 in an international friendly match at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, sports247.ng reports.

The game coincided with Taribo’s 45th birthday, and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) sent him a special greeting just few hours before kick-off, after which the Eagles then put a victorious icing on the cake for the ex-international stopper.

Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, who made five changes to the team that beat Seychelles on Friday, with Daniel Akpeyi, Leon Aderemi Balogun, Moses Simon, Paul Onuachu and John Ugochukwu Ogu stepping into Nigeria’s starting 11, said he was happy with many trappings about the victory.

Rohr stated: ”I am happy about it also because our 23 players did very well for the past ten days in Asaba.
”We had five changes in the team, the goalkeepers came in and we finished with two local players that made their debuts.

“It will be good for them, for their confidence and for the careers of the players.
”We have other profiles for the striker position, we now have this tall guy from Denmark. He did very well but he has to improve still.”
